Look around and you’ll see litter everywhere… it ruins our communities, harms wildlife, pollutes our rivers and oceans and prevents waste getting into the recycling stream.
LitterLotto encourages us to work together to solve the issue, both locally and globally - and it’s rewarding too!
Simply open the app and take a pic using the built-in camera function, each time you bin litter, just as you’re about to release it! And every time you bin litter, it’s another entry into the LitterLotto and another opportunity to win spot prizes!

How does it work?
Bin it to Win it.
It really is that simple. Put any litter in the bin, take a picture through the app’s camera function as you do it, and you’ve got an entry. The more times you do it, the more entries you have, there’s no limit! We have spot prizes and jackpots sponsored by brands who want to support clearing litter and encourage a positive behaviour change.
Where does the money for the prizes come from?
We partner with brands that are also committed to eliminating litter. It’s not good for them either and they too want a cleaner, tidier environment where there’s less harm to wildlife, less waste reaching our rivers and oceans, and ultimately more recycling.
Can I take stuff home to bin?
Absolutely. Taking it home gives your litter even more chance of being recycled - and means public litter bins needn’t be emptied so often. Make sure you put the litter in the correct bin – and don’t forget to take a pic through the LitterLotto app because you’re still entitled to entries, no matter whether it’s at home, work, or anywhere – as long as it’s considered litter (see in-app for details of what’s included!)
Can it be any bin?
Any litter bin eg home, work, school, park, High street... Is fine – please ensure, if there are different slots for different types of litter, you use the right one – and don’t forget to take a picture through the LitterLotto app.
Does it have to be branded litter?
Not at all. We’re about preventing all litter, any brand or type. If it’s litter, put it in the bin.
Can I bin other people’s litter?
Sure. It can be your litter or any litter you collect. (Please take care when picking up others litter to ensure it’s free of germs or hazards. Where possible, use gloves).
What’s the chance of winning the jackpot?
It depends on the amount of litter that’s binned per day (for Spot Prizes) and per month (for the Jackpot) – but there’s one way of increasing your chances – bin more and invite friends too! The selection is totally random, conducted by a 3rd party.
How many spot prizes are there?
Thousands a month. The more you bin, the higher your chances of winning one.
How do I know if I’ve won?
We’ll notify you through the App and if you’re a monthly jackpot winner you’ll get a call/text as well! Sometimes, for security, we need up to 48 hours to verify the win before paying out.
Is there a limit to how many times I can bin litter?
Nope! Each time you bin litter responsibly you get another entry into the monthly jackpot and more chances to win spot prizes. Just make sure you bin within the rules of LitterLotto to make sure your entries count!
